KM GROUP PARTNERS WITH NEWSPAPERDIRECT TO PUT NEWSPAPER TITLES ONLINE

New York, April 9, 2007—The KM Group and NewspaperDirect Inc. announced that the KM Group is the first UK regional weekly publisher to launch multiple digital editions of its papers online using SmartEdition™ technology from NewspaperDirect.

The three main editions of the Kent Messenger, Kentish Gazette and Kentish Express are going online at the same time they go on retail sale, with the remaining 18 titles and editions available online within just a few weeks.

Managing editor Ron Green said: "There are subscribers to KM newspapers all over the world. Traditionally, we have mailed copies of our papers to them. However, thanks to the wonders of this Internet technology there is now a fascinating new alternative available to everyone. We are confident that businesses, schools, libraries and local authorities will be interested in these new digital editions, as will be the readers of our newspapers who live or work outside Kent"

The electronic versions have the same sections and supplements as the traditional paper. A range of digital tools enable readers to make keyword searches, zoom in on text and pictures, bookmark pages and print or email stories or pages. Online readers can even hear the stories being read. Or, if the mood takes them, have them translated into one of eleven languages.

Costs range from £1 for a single issue to £5 for 10 papers and £20 for 52 copies but the online editions can be sampled free of charge for one week.
